Noted events in his life were: • Immigration: to America in 1631. 2 • Research Notes: Denison, Captain George of Stonington, Connecticut by John Denison Baldwin. 2 "Captain George Denison and Lady Ann were both remarkable for magnificent personal appearance, and for force of mind and character. They had a foremost place in Stonington, Connecticut. At the time of their marriage in 1645, she was 30 years old and he was 27. He was described as the Miles Standish of the settlement; but he was a greater and more brilliant soldier than Miles Standish. He had no equal in any of the colonies for conducting a war against the Indians, excepting perhaps Captain John Mason." George married Ann BORODELL, daughter of John BORODELL and Wife of John BORODELL (MAIDEN UNKNOWN). (Ann BORODELL was born in 1615 and died on 26 Sep 1712.) George next married Bridget THOMPSON, daughter of John THOMPSON of Preston, Northamptonshire, England and Alice THOMPSON (MAIDEN UNKNOWN), in 1640. (Bridget THOMPSON died in 1643.) |
