• Research Notes: Harris, James of New London, Connecticut and His Descendants; From 1640 to 1878 by Nathaniel Harris Morgan, 1878. 1 "Edward was for fifteen years a locomotive engineer on the Hudson River railroad, and was killed by the explosion of his engine, December 14, 1862, leaving two orphan children, his wife having died before. The New York Sunday Times of December 21, 1862, under the caption of "A Real Hero,: gave a touching account of this event, and of the high ability, skill, and devotion to duty in the face of peril, of this long-tried, faithful, and self-sacrificing engineer."


Edward married Catherine M. BROWN in May 1851. (Catherine M. BROWN died in Apr 1858.)
