• Obituary/Death Notice: Newark Evening News, 26 Sep 1916. 11 Jacob Stucky, a resident of this city for thirty-eight years, died early this morning at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. William E. Condit, 5 Elm street, Orange. He was eighty-two years old and death was due to the infirmities of age. Born in Berne, Switzerland, Mr. Stucky came to the United States at the age of sixteen and settled in Elizabeth. His wife died many years ago.
Mr. Stucky served in the Civil War, in which he was wounded, as a member of the Thirteenth New Jersey Volunteers. He was a member of Lincoln Post G.A.R. of Newark.
Surviving are three sons and four daughters, former Police Captain William Stucky of this city, now at Douglas, Ariz., as quartermaster sergeant of the Essex Troop; Mrs. William Mershon, John J. Stucky, Miss Elizabeth Stucky, Mrs. Condit, Stephen Stucky and Mrs. Charles L. Stasse. A sister, Mrs. Anna Grimm of East Orange, and a brother, John Stucky of Orlando, Fla., also survive. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at the Orange address and interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

STUCKY - At Orange, N.J., September 25, 1946, Jacob Stucky, in his 81st year. Relatives and friends also Lincoln Post, G.A.R. are kindly invited to attend the funeral service at his daughter's residence, Mrs. William E. Condit, No. 5 Elm street, Orange on Thursday, September 28, at 2:30 P.M. Interment Evergreen Cemetery.


Jacob married Catherine Ronza DIETZ, daughter of John Gottloeb DIETZE and Therodora SHEI, on 25 Apr 1859. (Catherine Ronza DIETZ was born on 14 Apr 1841 and died on 4 Jul 1890 in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey 12.)
