Funeral services were held Tuesday at Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home. The Revs. Tracy Freeman and Sooter Simons officiated. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dollyhite was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Lacy Earnest Dollyhite; a daughter, Angeline Jessup; two grandchildren, Denise Dollyhite and Jeff Jessup; four sisters, Bessie Hayden, Nellie White, Lucy Hayes, and Elsie Heath; four brothers, Roy Pike, Floyd Pike, Edgar Pike, and James Pike. A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 21, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Hatcher's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Larry Thomas and the Rev. Chris McMillian officiating. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home, but the family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Bonnie Lambert, 1225 Brim Road, Mount Airy. The Dollyhite family wants to thank Sabrina, Melissa, and Evan from Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for their loving care of Mrs. Dollyhite. A service of celebration and thanksgiving for the life of Opal Forrest Pike will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 18, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Mount Airy. The service will be officiated by the Rev. J. Kip Smith and the Rev. Paul Riggs. The family will receive friends in the church's Fireside Room, where Mrs. Pike will lie-in-state from 12:30 until the time of the service. Flowers will be accepted. He was born in Greene County, Tenn., on April 4, 1910 and was a son of the late Robert Taylor and Selma Collins Hayes. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Heaton Hayes, three sisters, Mildred Fannon, Gertrude Fannon and Wilma Easterly; and two brothers, Wallace Hayes and Ray Hayes.
During World War II, he served in Northern Africa, Sicily and Italy with the 405th Medical Collection Company of the 88th Infantry Division of the 5th Army and saw action at Anzio, Rome and Monte Casino. He received two purple hearts, the Bronze Star, the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three bronze Campaign Stars and the Good Conduct Medal.
He was a member of Hatcher's Chapel United Methodist Church and was retired from Renfro Corporation after working there for most of his life as a knitting machine fixer.
Surviving are one son, Mike Hayes of Claudville; one sister, Lucy Sexton; one brother, Richard Hayes of Greenville, Tenn.; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Monday at Hatcher's Chapel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Karen Branch. Burial, with military honors by the Patrick County Veterans' Memorial Honor Guard, was in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hatcher's Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund c/o/ Patsy Smith, 2404 Claudville Hwy., Claudville, VA 24076.
Arrangements were by Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
