• Research Notes: Otis Family in America by William A. Otis. 2 "Judge Otis was a distinguished man. He came from Scituate, Massachusetts, in 1722, in which State he had been judge of the Court of Common Pleas for Plymouth Co. from 1703 to 1710; Rep. in the Great and Gen. Court of Massachusetts, 1710-13, and he was ever held in the highest esteem for great abilities, solid judgement, and sterling integrity of character. He became a very large landholder in New London, Colchester, Pomfret, and other towns in Connecticut. He married his fist cousin, Dorothy Thomas."
