• Research Notes: Rogers, James of New London, Connecticut. ³ "The parentage of James Rogers has not been ascertained and the place and date of his birth are unknown. Many of his descendants firmly believe the tradition that he himself said he was the great grandson of John Rogers the martyr. He was probably a native of England and is supposed to have been born about 1615."

"The first grant of any lands, north of the settlement of New London, was made by the old Sachem Uncas, father of Owaneco, in 1658, to Richard Haughton and James Rogers, the grandfather of Sarah, who was the wife of James Harris; and consisted of valuable tracts near the river Thames at places called Massapeg and Pamachaug, below present Norwich."

James married Elizabeth ROWLAND, daughter of Samuel ROWLAND and Wife of Samuel ROWLAND (MAIDEN UNKNOWN). (Elizabeth ROWLAND died in 1709.)
