• Research Notes: Lord, Thomas; Genealogy of the Descendants by Kenneth Lord; 1946. ² "Thomas Lord was a mean of means, position and influence, and in 1632 he sent his eldest son, Richard, then abount twenty-one years of age, to America. On April 29, 1635, Thomas Lord, his wife Dorothy Bird, and seven of their children headed for America in the ship 'Elizabeth and Ann.' They landed in Boston and joined his eldest son, Richard Lord, at Newton, which afterwards became Cambridge. In 1636, with his entire family, Thomas Lord along with about one humdred men departed from Newtown to form a new settlement on the Connecticut River. Thomas Lord became an original proprietor and one of the first settlers of Hartford. He lived on the north side of the highway on the bank of the Little River (now Wells Street). His sons, Richard and Thomas, had lots next to his. Neither the date of death not the place of burieal of Thomas Lord is known."

Thomas married Dorothy BIRD, daughter of Robert BIRD of Towcester, Northton County, England and Amy BIRD (MAIDEN UNKNOWN), on 23 Feb 1611 in England. (Dorothy BIRD was born in 1588 in England, christened on 25 May 1588 in St. Laurence Church, Towcester, Northton, England and died in 1675.)
