• Obituary/Death Notice: Newark Evening News, 15 Apr 1927. 9 YOUMANS - At Orange, N.J., on Wednesday, April 13, 1927. Wiliam Briton, husband of Helen Youmans, aged 61 years. Relatives and friends also members of Lafayette Lodge No. 12, I.O.O.F. and Royal Arcanum No. 915 of Orange, and United Hatters of North America are invited to attend the funeral services at his home, 485 Lincoln place, on Saturday afternoon, at 3 o'clock. Interment Rosedale Cemetery.

History of Newark and Essex Cty.; Vol. I; Pub. 1898. 2 William was educated in the common schools, after which he was apprenticed to the hat-maker's trade at the age of sixteen years. Like others of the family, he makes this his life work and is a skilled workman, with a thorough understanding of the business. He is a fine vocalist, which makes his services much in demand in musical circles, and he is now a member of the choir of Grace Episcopal church. He belongs, however, to the Presbyterian church, and in his political belief he is a Republican. He is very prominent and popular in social circles and is a worthy representative of an honored family.


William married Helen (Anna) DOULL, daughter of James DOULL and Ann Bailiff GOODFELLOW, on 30 Dec 1897 in Orange, Essex County, New Jersey.1 (Helen (Anna) DOULL was born on 9 Jun 1867 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, died on 25 Apr 1957 in Maplewood, Essex County, New Jersey and was buried in Rosedale Cemetery, Orange, Essex County, New Jersey.)
