He was one of the wealthiest merchants of his time, made many trading voyages and was lost at sea November 5, 1685, aged 49, leaving a large estate to his widow and only child."


Richard married Mary SMITH, daughter of Henry SMITH and Anne PYNCHON, on 15 Apr 1665. (Mary SMITH was born on 7 Mar 1643 and died on 17 May 1702.)
